Lithuanian Room

No tours of the Nationality and Heritage Rooms will be available on Sunday, March 31.  The rooms will be closed and unavailable to the public.

The Lithuanian Room is a folk art inspired room that follows very closely the architect's drawings. Antanas Guidaitis won a competition in his country to design this room with materials and decoration that would be typically understood. Black oak, or bog oak, is referenced in the dark trim and linen covers the walls, in a pattern known from an original sample in the Ciurlionis Museum.

Sun designs throughout reference a long held association with nature and names carved above the blackboard are Lithuanians identified as great patriotic figures in the national resurgence occurring over the past couple centuries.
