This jar of soil, in a lidded steel can, is from the Hill of Tara, in County Meath in the Republic of Ireland. Upon completion of the Irish Nationality Room in 1957, soil mixed from County Meath and County Armagh, Northern Ireland (UK) was placed behind the cornerstone of the room.
