In the spirit of an open house tradition and to foster connections among neighbors, members of the Nationality and Heritage Room Committees will welcome guests into the Cathedral of Learning for an afternoon of exploration and engagement. Guests will be invited into the Nationality and Heritage Rooms which will be decorated for the holiday season. Guests will have the opportunity to participate in traditional crafts and cultural demonstrations to learn about the rooms and the Nationality and Heritage Room Committees and their ethnic communities and traditions.
The 41st Annual Polishfest is designed to give the festival guests, families, and students an opportunity to experience the living cultures of the Polish, Lithuanian and Carpatho-Rusyn Peoples that throughout history were joined, separated and independently are connected. A living legacy presented to teach, to experience, to taste, to try and to have fun.

Join the Indian Nationality Room Committee for the 21st commemoration of India Independence Day. This year’s theme is the Music of India. The event will showcase an exciting array of music and dance performances from all corners of India. Enjoy connecting with members of the Indian community, great food, and wonderful music and fun.
Join us on Tuesday June 20, 2023, 4pm-8pm in Schenley Plaza in Oakland for the return of Pittsburgh’s World Refugee Day and Immigrant Heritage Month Celebration!
The event will feature performances, speakers, music and dancing. Support local refugee and immigrant owned restaurants and craft vendors. Engage with a variety of community organizations to learn about services in our city. We’re excited to celebrate together!
Join the African Heritage Room Committee as we celebrate Juneteenth through featuring poets, musicians, playwrights, authors actors who will share their creativity. A reception will be held following the event.

Skaidra Jančaitė is a graduate of J Gruodis Conservatory and Lithuanian Music Academy with degrees in Choir Directing, Vocals and Instruments. She has taught music at all levels and performed as a soloist and as a member of the ensemble “Suburtynė“. Skaidra brings her wonderful soprano voice to Pittsburgh for an evening of performing and teaching Lithuanian folk songs with a focus on sutartinės, the most ancient style of Lithuanian folk songs.
